Don's adventure was less than noteworthy, but I felt compelled to share it with you. He has been waiting for this weekend with baited breath. He went up north to Forest Lakes to scout for his and Brooke's upcoming hunt. Carefully, he sighted his bow and prepared his equipment. With bursts of excited chatter, he got out of bed around five a.m. Friday to pack his suitcases. He and the kids went to Cabela's the night before to check out all the newest gear. This weekend was one he had been looking forward to. With no prep hour and a 6/5 schedule at school, this break was well deserved. Only one problem presented itself: Don woke up sick on Friday.
Don and Dennis Fogle, Senior went anyway. As they got up at four a.m. yesterday to scout hunting grounds before sunrise, Don would have to constantly blow his nose and clear his lungs. It may not sound so horrible, but when Don is sick, he is down for the count. The only reason he could get up was the pure adrenaline running through his veins.
They did find some sweet spots for the upcoming hunt. The rest of the family? The kids were absolute troopers yesterday as I had to teach an SAT prep class all day long. Brooke helped out in my classroom and the boys played outside and played some computer games. After ten hours, we escaped the confines of Apollo and went out to our favorite restaurant, Sweet Tomatoes. Then, we went book shopping (how cool is it that all of my kids love to read!). Today, we look forward to wonderful church meetings and the arrival home of our sick hunter/scouter. We will be sure to take good care of him.
Hunting season is just around the corner. We look forward with anticipation to Brooke's amazing skills and her amazing teacher, her daddy.
Very cool!
