Convention: These are pictures from the Arizona Student Council Convention the last weekend of January at North High School.
The first day, we had to dress for school spirit: our idea was to be shocked by spirit. Our t-shirts had a little electrician on them. Our hair is supposed to imitate what electricity would have done. I have no idea why we have goggles!!
We ate at Denny's on the way there; boy did we get stared at! Upon arrival, the kids jumped right in the festivities and began dancing. Look at those gold legs!
The next day, we were supposed to dress as if we were coming from something in 1962. The theme was Hairspray: Go Big, Go Bold, Go Beyond so.....our students dressed as James Bonds and Bond girls. Too short a dress for me!!
We stopped on our way home that night to eat at Chili's. We had a blast, even though they made this year's convention only two days instead of three, I dropped my pants from the hanger some time during packing the van and had to go by new ones, my hairspray leaked in the phone bag and everyone's phone was sticky and wet....all part of being in stuco!
Valentine's weekend, we went to Utah with 19 people on a quick turnaround trip to see Utah State. We went with my star students and their families so we could not only show them around Logan and Provo, but hit our old haunts. The kids were excited to see our old condo and the hospital where Tyler and Brandon were born. We left at four a.m. on Friday morning, the 12th and arrived in Logan around 7p.m. We were tired! We ate at Olive Garden and then crashed. The next day, we went on a tour of Utah State, ate ice cream ate at the Bluebird, bought some Sea Foam chocolate, and had a snowball fight at Spring Hollow Campground up Logan Canyon.
It was cold for all these Arizona babies!! Our venture in the snow only lasted about an hour and then everyone was wet and freezing cold.
I avoided a snowball in the face, but Don got all the teenagers, including Brooke, with handfuls of wet snow. No one could catch him to get him back, nor could they aim well enough to hit him!
We also got a chance to head over to Willow Park Zoo. That brought back memories!! Even in the cold, we saw peacocks, bobcats, ducks, geese, eagles, elk, and other animals.
Then, it was off back down south to Provo. We stopped to meet Cassidy Tomao for a mini campus tour. Since it was Sunday, not many people were out. The law school was open so we visited. Don couldn't resist taking a picture of me in my graduating class (it was hanging on the wall outside the moot court room). Tabetha thinks she might attend here after undergrad!!
Cass took us in the Wilkinson Center and we walked around for a bit. We went and saw the new library....awesome. Cass says that BYU's library is second only to Harvard's. By this point, everyone is tired and cold. It is only 26 degrees in these photos.
Then, Monday, we headed the twelve hours to home....Whew. And then I got sick. Have to get better for the Vegas trip next week and the San Fran trip after that!! I am going to miss my family!!!!!!!
